Tom Berray is a founder and managing partner of Cabot Consultants. He is also an Executive Board Member for IRC Global Executive Search Partners and a specialist in top-tier executive searches across all functional roles for technology companies and technology executives across all industries. His areas of expertise include general management, business development, human resources, operations, sales and marketing, finance, and technology. During his 19+ years in executive recruiting, Tom has conducted searches for early-stage, venture-backed to Fortune 100 companies in software, internet, aerospace/defense, biotechnology, energy, financial services, government and professional services, healthcare, manufacturing, distribution & logistics, associations, and not-for-profit industries.
Prior to joining Cabot, Tom was a Principal with the Technology practice of Heidrick & Struggles, the world's largest search firm at the time. There, Tom's expertise was recruiting CIOs, CTOs, VPs of Engineering and other senior IT executives across all industries, as well as senior executives for high technology companies in the hardware, software, and services areas. Before joining the executive search industry, Tom was a Director with the Gartner's Executive Programs, where his primary responsibility was to act as a personal advisor to over 200 Chief Information and Chief Technology Officers. Prior to Gartner, Tom held positions in systems analysis, and sales and marketing at Computer Associates and Xerox Corporation.
Tom's board roles include serving as the Secretary of the Washington CTO Roundtable, Executive Board Member of IRC, Board Member of the Sea Colony Recreation Association, IT Industry Advisory for the American Public University System (APUS), Advisory Board Member for the Washington DC CIO Executive Leadership Summit, former Secretary of the Rotary Club of Tysons Corner, former Co-Chair of the Annual Fund for The Potomac School, and former President of the Great Falls Swim & Tennis Club. Tom is also a former member of the Rotary Club of Tysons Corner and the Rotary Club of Great Falls.
Tom earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Economics from Duke University and is an active member of Duke's Alumni Admissions Advisory Committee.
