Mr. Sekera has over 30 years in retained executive search. In the last 7-8 years, he has focused on technology-based, early stage or emerging businesses, specifically in the fields of technology, information technology, and systems integration. His primary level of expertise is at the Chief Executive level or his/her direct reports. Many of his assignments are for global roles.
Previously, Mr. Sekera held Vice President-level positions with three retained search firms: McFeely Wackerle Associates (a Chicago- based boutique), Arthur Young Executive Resource Consulting, and lastly with ATKearney Executive Search as a Managing Director and founder of the Washington DC office. At ATKearney Executive Search, he also served on the management committee for three years.
In March 1999, Mr. Sekera formed Roger I. Sekera & Associates. Since then, he has booked and completed 97 assignments, completing every one of them to the client’s highest expectations. Since its founding, his firm has been ranked in the “Top Ten Search Firms” by the Washington Business Journal every year.
Mr. Sekera has had a total of 11 years in corporate roles, largely in Human Resources, for General Electric (Information Services) and what is now Baxter Healthcare. Positions were both generalist and functionally specific in nature.
Mr. Sekera holds an AB from DePauw University and an MSIR from Loyola University of Chicago, where he also completed course work toward a Ph.D in Industrial Relations.
